From Hawaii to Kauai was the longest distance that the ship made in one night, still it made it easily on time. I wish I could have played the golf course with the green right by the inlet to the harbour.

We had booked a excursion to go and see something called Waimea Canyon. We boarded the bus and on the first stop we got to see the spouting horn. which is a lava tube where the sea water comes in and is pushed out through. Here we also got to see some of the wild chickens that are every where on Kauai.

Next stop was at a tourist/souvenir shop as you get on most of these excursions but you just have to accept that that is how it works. After the break we headed up the mountain to the canyon. passing Kauai's first traffic light on the way, however it looked like it needed some repair work. After surviving the tight turns we made it up to the spectacular views of the canyon.
After taking in the views the bus driver took us down again and made a stop at Kauai Coffee plantation which is the largest of the islands. After getting back we spent the rest of the day on the ship.

Next day we were still in Kauai and had signed up for snorkeling. We did 2 dives, if you want to call it that. The first one was supposed to be easier but we so tons of fish of all colors. I wish we would have gotten to water prof camera to take pictures with. The dive/swim was 40 minutes and very interesting. The second dive was to try to see some sea turtles which we did see and they were bigger than I expected. These turtles are protected by law and you can not get closer than 5 feet which creates a problem when they decide to swim straight for you. :-)
Here are 2 pictures I found and borrowed of the internet and here you can read more about them.
